Thanks to my University of Oklahoma School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS) advisor, Dr. Suliman Hawamdeh (an exceptional individual who answers e-mail during holidays), as well as the highly efficient assistance of SLIS staff members Maggie Ryan and Janie Allen, I am once again on target for my intended 8/08 graduation date.
The courses I intend to take this coming semester (which begins 1/14/08) include:
- KM/LIS 5263 Organizational Learning & Learning Organizations – with Dr. Hawamdeh
- KM/LIS 5553 Competitive Intelligence – with Dr. Martens
- KM/LIS 5990 Evaluation of Information Products & Services – with Dr. Van Fleet
Once I complete this semester, I will only need to take one final course (an elective of my choice) and comprehensive exams in order to obtain an MLIS degree.

So are you taking comps this spring, or in the summer? (It’s summer for me.)
I’m taking them summer, as well. Want a study partner?
Yes, definitely!
Am not planning on doing any studying until after the spring semester, though. That ok with you?
I had grand ideas of studying before then, but considering the ice storm clean up, 40 hours, 3 classes, and two teens at home, I’ve chosen to readjust my expectations a little closer to what time allows:
May sounds great!
Hey, I just got an email from Dr. Van Fleet re: our class and didn’t see your name in the list of recipients. But I think everyone in the list is in Norman, so maybe she sent separate ones? Can forward if you need me to.
Hi Kirsten,
Yes, I got the email (are you not in Tulsa?). However, I am unable to access the syllabus of which she speaks, as my D2L account has yet to be updated from last semester.
Not gonna worry too much however, as my textbook has yet to arrive (maybe I’ll pass the time by reading the textbook for the canceled info lit class ;-)
Thanks for looking out for me! (btw, where’d your picture go?)
Hee! I was thinking the same thing about the info lit book! Will certainly read it at some point, I’m sure.
Norman is closer to me so I take classes there, but Tulsa’s not really a heck of a lot further. Since my life is a wee bit simpler than yours (no kids), I figured I’d just bop up your way when we want to study.
My D2L page wasn’t updated as of last night, but it is now. It’s a ten-page syllabus.
Oh, I wasn’t logged in when I left that comment, so no pic.
Thanks, Kirsten (for everything)!
My D2L page has been updated as well – with all three course links glowing in blue and begging to be clicked upon. Looks like it’s time to get serious (or at least put forth some semblence ;-)
Actually, a second look of my personalized listings on D2L reveals that one of them is for the cancelled class. I seem to be missing my link to Competitive Intelligence.
Oh well, no doubt time will cure this ill (of course, I will if need be ;-)
